Project Staunch is commissioned and commercial operations commence

The Hazel Capital team is pleased to report that its latest infrastructure development, an Energy Storage System (ESS) known as Project Staunch, was completed and energised in March 2017. Following a period of rigorous testing, Staunch commenced commercial operations on 1 May 2017 and is delivering the Firm Frequency Response (FFR) service contracted with National Grid. We believe this project is the first in the UK to assemble batteries alongside engines for the purpose of supplying backup power to the UK’s electricity grid.
